Spring and the Joy of New Growth
As we welcome spring in Winnipeg, enjoying the warm weather and the new bursts of green all around campus, I find myself grateful for the growth I observe in our students as well.
Every year when we move past Spring Break, I know that the pace will pick up on the run toward the June finish line. Despite what on the surface can look like a flurry of activity, what I see is the cumulation of months of learning, and the fruit of our students’ curiosity and commitment. When I take an even closer look, I am privileged to witness the evidence of MBCI’s Vision and Mission at work as students demonstrate engagement, service, and learning that is rooted in meaning, purpose, and belonging.
Introducing: The Red Gym Refresh Project
The Red Gym at MBCI has been a cornerstone of our school community for generations. Within its walls, countless stories of teamwork, resilience, and achievement have unfolded. The Red Gym Refresh Project will honour this legacy while preparing for the future as it creates a 21st century athletic facility designed for growth, excellence, and accessibility.
MBCI Presents, Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical
April’s production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical captivated four sold-out audiences in Jubilee Place, leaving them laughing, crying, clapping along, and up on their feet. The musical, which tells the story of a precocious little girl who overcomes hardships, bringing light to a dark world, resonated deeply with many in attendance.
Celebrating Mr. Brian Plett
It was in the fall of 1983 that Mr. Brian Plett joined the staff at MBCI. Over the 42 years that followed, Brian has had a truly generational impact on the MBCI community – now teaching the children and grandchildren of former colleagues and students, and working alongside those he used to teach.
Remembering Dr. Henry G. Friesen, 1934-2025
The MBCI honours the life and legacy of Dr. Henry Friesen, who passed away last month in Winnipeg. Dr. Friesen, an MBCI graduate of the class of 1952, leaves behind a remarkable story of scientific innovation, visionary leadership, and faithful service.
Mr. Brian Plett is retiring after 42 years of teaching, coaching, and service at MBCI!
Please join us as we share our best wishes with Brian, share some memories and stories, and recognize and honour his work and his legacy at MBCI.
