Distinguished Alumni Awards

At MBCI, we celebrate the remarkable achievements and character of our alumni who continue to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

The MBCI Distinguished Alumni Award honours individuals whose lives reflect the values and mission of MBCI, embody the Habits and Characteristics of an MBCI Graduate, and seek to live a Life Well Learned.

Award Criteria

Recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award embody the following qualities:
  1. Christ-Centered Example: Demonstrates a life rooted in Christian faith, reflecting Christ-like character in personal and professional endeavors.
  2. Commitment to Learning: Pursues continuous personal and intellectual growth, showcasing a dedication to lifelong learning and the application of knowledge.
  3. Compassionate Engagement: Actively contributes to the betterment of society, displaying empathy, service, and a commitment to positive change in their community and beyond.
  4. Leadership: Achieves distinction in their personal and professional life, demonstrating integrity, leadership, and a commitment to ethical practices.
  5. Support of MBCI Community: Maintains a meaningful connection with MBCI, contributing to the school’s mission and vision through mentorship, finances, volunteering, or other forms of support.

Eligibility

Alumni are eligible to receive the award if they attended MBCI for at least one year. While a high school diploma from MBCI is not required, candidates should demonstrate a strong connection to the values and mission of the school.

Dr. Henry G. Friesen, Class of 1952

This award is presented posthumously to Dr. Friesen in recognition of his life and legacy, which shaped the medical field and continues to inspire others to lead with integrity and to make a difference in the world.

Patricia Kumbakisaka, Class of 2007

Diplomatic by nature and driven by faith, Patricia Kumbakisaka embodies the kind of global leadership grounded in compassion, conviction, and community. A proud MBCI “lifer,” Patricia attended the school from Grade 7 through 12, and credits those formative years with shaping the values and vision that have guided her life ever since.

Dr. Maniate exemplifies the profound impact that compassionate leadership, relentless curiosity, and Christ-centered values can have on shaping not just careers – but systems, communities, and lives.
