Computer Science Web Design
Grade 10 Data & Spreadsheets
This year (2011-2012) we have upgraded to Office 2010. We have purchased
new textbooks as well.
This course deals with the creation of Spreadsheets using the Excel program.
To begin we will learn the basics of mathematical calculations
We will very quickly, however, have the students doing much more complicated math.
Using lookup tables and doing some basic programming in Visual Basic is planned.
There are 8 units in this text and we will be covering all the units along with
some of my own lessons thrown in along the way.

Web Design Grade 10
This course will introduce the students to the basics of designing web sites using a
program called Dreamweaver. It is part of a suite of programs produced by Adobe.
These Adobe programs work seamlessly together to create some very fine looking sites.
We will be following through 5 units of a text from the Shelley Cashman series.
I will also show the students some basics in creating animations in Flash and
how easy it is to insert these into their web sites for some rather stunning effects.

Computer Science Course Grade 10
This course deals with learning to program. We will be concentrating on three programming languages :
Flash and ActionScript 3.0 Term 1
We have upgraded our Flash program from Flash MX to Flash CS5. This is a major change.
ActionScript is the scripting language that is used to augment the capabilities of Flash,
which is an excellent animation program by Adobe. Creating animations and games will be
our goal in this section.
Blender 3D Animations Term 2
This is a fairly new component of our course. It is challenging but very enjoyable.
Blender has also had some major upgrades and improvements. But the nice
thing about Blender is that it is 100% free and available for download by all
our students.
We will learning “Modeling” of 3D characters and how to manipulate them
with some simple programming. The length and difficulty of each module
or project will vary. However each subsequent project builds on the preceding one.
Term 3 will cover either Visual Basic or a new Program called Unity.
