I am proud to say that I graduated from MBCI (Class of '96!). I am thankful for the many friendships I developed during my time at MBCI, many of whom are still good friends today! I am privileged to be able to teach in such a positive environment. We are free to talk about what we believe and encourage our students in their spiritual journeys, wherever they may be.
Welcome to Foods and Nutriton!
In this class we will prepare a variety of food dishes. Students will learn about the importance of healthy eating and the benefits that it produces in our daily lives. One reason I really enjoy teaching this course is that it is applicable to all students. No matter what career path a student may choose, they will need to know how to choose and prepare healthy food for themselves and their families and they can start applying what they learn right away.
Emphasis will also be placed on: Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, reducing our intake of sugars and unhealthy fats, reducing the amount of processed and fast food that we eat.
All sections of grades 7 (that I currently see) and grade 9 will have an assignment due each term where they are asked to cook/bake something at home and fill out the Home Cooking Sheet. They are required to attach the recipe for what they are making and get a parent to sign saying it was done. The link to the assignment and question sheet is found in the grade pages.
