June 2011

As each school year unfolds, there are many different twists and turns that take place. As I look back on the events of this year I am amazed at what our students have accomplished to this point. Our students have worked hard at their studies. We have won numerous athletic championships, trophies and banners for MBCI. Musically, this has been a very full year. A definite highlight was our musical, “Fiddler on the Roof.” I am so impressed with how our students have reached out and become involved with Service Day and how our Soar Heartland team served Winnipeg during spring break. These are just a few of the many involvements this past year. I am thankful that God knows what is best for MBCI and he has sustained us to this point.

Often at the end of  the year I am asked if the school is starting to wind down. I always reply that June only means that a school winds up even more. June is such an important month in the school calendar. As I was thinking of all the many wonderful accomplishments that our students have achieved to this point I thought that June will bring even more rewards for hard work, if everyone finishes strong. I recognize that the end of a school year can be challenging and at times overwhelming. I was encouraged and I want to encourage each of you with Matthew 6:34: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Worry doesn’t accomplish anything positive. As we go through the month of June let’s not worry but depend on God one day at a time.

In June we as a school will have several opportunities to celebrate.  This has been another very good year and many students have worked hard and deserve recognition.  Following exams we will recognize individual achievements at our Academic Awards assemblies on June 28 and 29 and our graduates will be honoured at the Farewell Banquet on June 28 at the Fairmont Winnipeg and at the Graduation Exercises on June 29 at Portage Avenue Church.  I am looking forward to meeting many of you at these events.

I would like to thank each of you for your support and prayers that have helped to make this a successful school year.  As the summer approaches I wish you a relaxing time away from the normal routine of the regular year.  Our graduates will move on to new, exciting endeavours as they press on to the next stage of life. I look forward to seeing many of you back at MBCI after a restful vacation.
