December 2011 / January 2012
Christmas is an event that we all anticipate with great enthusiasm. It is during this season of the year that people around the world focus on the birth of Jesus Christ - the Prince of Peace. In Isaiah 9:6 we read: “For unto us a child is born. to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” When I look at the world we live in and see the hopelessness that surrounds us and think of the fear that many people live with, I am so thankful for the “Prince of Peace”. As we look forward to the many banquets, concerts, family gatherings and gifts, let's not forget the greatest gift of all - the birth of Jesus Christ, The Prince of Peace. What can each of us do to share the gift of peace during this Christmas season?
The first term of the school year is now complete and I am looking forward to meeting many of you at our parent teacher interviews in early December. As a school, we are entering this busy season of celebration. We at MBCI are pleased to invite you to our Christmas concerts and the students are excited about the banquets and other activities planned for this time. The calendar of events for December lists all the activities that will happen at our school. We hope that these events will shed light on the importance of Christ in all our lives at MBCI.
Spiritual Emphasis Week in January of 2012 will focus on our theme, Do Everything in Love. Leading our sung worship and providing a Friday chapel concert will be the Canadian Christian rock band, Cities Under Fire (www.citiesunderfire.com). Our Grade 11 drama class will be presenting three dramas on our topic on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Our speakers will consist of Manitoba ministry workers from around our province and city, sharing how they serve others with the love of Jesus Christ. We're looking forward to a great week from January 23-27, 2012! This year the Grad Retreat will take place at Camp Cedarwood and Randy Carter of Straight Talk Ministries in Calgary will be the speaker. This event is always a highlight for our grads.
I would like to thank you, our MBCI constituency, for your support of our school. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways and I am thankful for the opportunity I have to be involved with providing Christian education. I would ask that you pray for the many meaningful events that will be happening at MBCI in the next few weeks.
