April/May 2011
During the Christmas holidays I spent some time catching up on my reading of various articles. As I was reading I found an interesting piece of advise that Albert Einstein gave his son Edward. The advice goes like this - “life is like riding a bicycle. In order to keep your balance you need to keep moving.” This small piece of advice has come back to me several times since Christmas. I have asked myself many questions related to the advise of Einstein. How often have I stopped and lost my balance? How often do I feel that I want to get off the bike? How often do I feel like breaking the bike? I know that we all have these questions and feelings at times. However I hope that when we “lose our balance” we will have the courage to get back on the bike and regain our balance.
Life at MBCI is often like riding a bike. At times we lose our balance and fall off the MBCI bike but we do our best to get back on and try harder next time. I am so encouraged by Isaiah 43: 1 & 2 “But now, this is what the Lord says - he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” With God’s help we can maintain our balance so that we can keep moving forward.
This newsletter reflects on recent MBCI events and anticipates the many exciting activities throughout the months of April and May. We have just concluded another successful basketball season. Congratulations to all the teams and their coaches who worked hard all season. Our band and choir trip will provide our students with many exciting and interesting experiences. Coming events include our Spring concerts with our Bands and Choirs and our Fundraising Reception.
In the meantime, we are once again interviewing new students for next year and actively planning for the 2011-2012 school year. As we look back and look ahead, we sense the support of a strong school community comprised of wonderful students, an excellent staff, encouraging parents and a committed Parent Advisory Council and School Board. Much of the year is already behind us. We do, however have three very significant months ahead. Let’s work together to finish the school year well!
