Devotional                 Day 6   WEDNESDAY, September 22, 2010

Wholeheartedly

Spiritual Emphasis today and tomorrow!

Hebrews 12:1-3 ~ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Mother Teresa was a nun as part of the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. This is a Roman Catholic religious order established in 1950, which consists of over 4,500 nuns and is active in 133 countries. Member nuns must adhere to the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, and the fourth vow, to give "Wholehearted and Free service to the poorest of the poor".

If you know anything about Mother Teresa, you know she gave her whole life to serving the poorest in Calcutta. She felt as though she was blessed to do such a thing, yet she owned nothing.

Today in chapel, Bryan Neisteter will be teaching us about following God wholeheartedly. Giving our whole being to God helps us live more effectively and thrive in life. Come to chapel ready to be challenged to live life with more fervor and energy than you are living today.

Prayer:

Dear God – Prepare us to hear your words today as we listen to Bryan. Teach us something new today as we take time to seek you. Open our eyes to see and our ears to hear.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
