Daily Devotion Day 2 Wednesday, September 8, 2010
Welcome
Welcome to MBCI! For many of you, this is a comfortable environment in which you have many friends. You’ve made some good memories in this place. I’m glad you’re back!
For some of you, this is your first time at MBCI – please feel welcome here. We are happy that you’ve chosen to be here and we hope this year is a good one. We have a terrific year ahead of us!
My name is Adrian Enns and I’m the campus pastor here at MBCI. If you’re unfamiliar with MBCI, my office is directly across the link from the high school office. You’ll be hearing these devotionals each day. Some are written by others and some I write. If you ever want to talk about something you’ve heard in a devotional, please visit me. I enjoy interacting deeper on subjects that are important to you. My hope remains the same for you this year: that your heart and mind would learn and grow, in the classroom, in Jubilee Place and elsewhere.
For today, let’s think about the verses that Student Council picked for this year. They are
Hebrews 12:1-2,
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Prayer:
Dear God – Thank you for your Scripture. Speak to us about this idea of throwing off things that hinder us. Help us to actually throw them off; to remove them from our daily lives. Help us to run life’s race with enthusiasm this year. We thank you that you make it possible to live life well by giving us access to Jesus. We will fix our eyes on Him.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
