Final All-School Chapel
God is love.
You’ve heard this before.
If God is love and we want to love someone, it only makes sense that we need God. We need to know God in order to know love. Once we know love, we can extend it to others. However, if we don’t know love, how are we able to love someone? We can’t love somebody if we don’t know what love is. And if we don’t know God, we may not know what love is.
Jesus said that “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). And Jesus did just that. He laid down his life in exchange for yours and for mine.
Do you tell people you love them?
Do you know love though?
In essence, you know what I’m asking: do you know God?
If we desire to love someone truly, we must believe God is love. Then we have to take time to get to know love; we need to get to know God. Take some time this week. As we heard yesterday, God’s Word is vital. Start with that.
Prayer:
Dear God – Prepare our hearts for the message you’re speaking to us today. Prepare us for what we’re to hear in chapel right away. Speak to us clearly so we can hear your voice and understand your instructions. Make it clear to us what you’d have us do for you today and give us joy to follow you.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
