Devotional Day 1, Tuesday, May 18th, 2010
Jesus Will Give you Rest
MATTHEW 11:28-30 NIV
28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Are you struggling? Do you feel like you are barely keeping your head above water? I know the Facebook statuses over the last few weeks have screamed BUSY, TIRED, EXHAUSTED, and FRUSTRATED!
If you feel like you are struggling and striving just to make it -- you need to turn to Jesus. I know it’s the Bible class or Sunday school answer. But I’m serious. If this devotional comes to mind this week as you’re experiencing feelings of overwhelm, exhaustion or frustration, turn to Jesus. He will give you rest.
“We need to cast our cares on the Lord and learn about Him. So many people are striving and struggling to get God to love them when He already loves each of us and accepts us.
Living a successful Christian life is not done by our own strength or willpower. It is the result of depending on the Lord. Only He can do it. Quit trusting in your plans and abilities and efforts, and trust in Jesus instead. Turn things over to Him. Let Him be Lord in your life.”
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:6).
Prayer:
Dear God – Continue your work in the world and in us. You’re our Creator; we know that you are working in each of us, your creation. Help us to turn to you.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
