the blessing of life with Jesus

It all started at the beginning of high school, when Jason and I were in history class together. We didn’t really know each other at the beginning, but through this class we became friends. We sat next to each other, and one day I started to share with Jason what I know about God. It was great to see how open Jason was to what I had to say, and I thank God for that. I could sense that Jason was searching for something greater than himself to fill a place in his heart that he had been trying to fill all his life. He’s a major ski competitor, and he has achieved much success on the slopes, but even that couldn’t fill his heart with constant peace and joy.

I shared my faith with Jason and also invited him to my student ministry. A few of the leaders helped Jason learn more about God. He eventually trusted Jesus with his life.

Jason’s still skiing in races, and his life has really changed. As I’m writing this story, he’s in Austria representing Australia in the Junior World Cup. Praise God that he can be a witness for Jesus when he skis! God made me see how he can totally change a life.

I knew that Jason’s mom and dad needed to hear about God’s truth too. My mom made an effort to get to know Jason’s mom and invited her to church. A few weeks later, Jason’s mom committed her heart to Jesus, which was exciting for all of us, especially Jason.

- Write/think about the blessings you have in your life. Thank God for them. Thank people in your life that bless you. Make a note of it to remind you.

- Is there someone you know that is in a tough spot? Would reminding them of the blessings in their life perhaps help encourage them in their situation?

- Perhaps you should share some of your “extra” with them. Use your blessings to be a blessing to others.

For those of us that know what it’s like to live life with God’s blessings surrounding us, what’s holding us back from letting our friends know about it? Seriously, life for us is easier. The same challenges come our way, but we always have Jesus to turn to – that’s the biggest blessing. And then after that, we have his Word, his hope, his peace, his joy, his love. We have all been searching at some point, some of us are searching for life meaning right now. What’s keeping you from giving Jesus a chance? Seriously, you don’t know the blessing of a life with Jesus until you’ve tried it. If you’re searching, turn to Jesus and live life with Him.

Prayer:

Dear God – Open our eyes to see what’s holding us back from grasping for your blessings. You promise us eternal life and so much more for our earthly lives. Lord, if only we’d ask to live life with you – you would prove your promises to be true!

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
